A collaborative project with Christina Balch. I created a custom wearable for Christina’s pregnant belly which visualized through an animation Christina’s unborn babies’ heartbeat. This work is about the perception of a woman’s body as a passive vessel for her unborn child, the medical community’s invasive collection of data and charting of the fetus’ progress, and the optimistic imagining of what the unborn baby is thinking, dreaming, doing at any given moment as it grew inside my belly.

The project was later hung over the baby’s crib like a Dreamcatcher votive.
