Anna BursauxMATERIALS + METHODS
Laser cut acrylic, Formlabs Form2 3D print, sewingPHOTOGRAPHY
OJ Slaughter, Ally SchmalingAnna Bursaux grew up in Paris and has spent the past 20 years in Boston. She loves equally being in Alexander Macqueen and Old Navy. Anna commissioned me to make a dress for her fundraiser at the Boston Center for the Arts. The theme for the party was “delight.” I interviewed her about the aspects of her life that caused her to feel the most delight—one of which is her dog Yoshi’s wonderful smile--and used this as the conceptual driver of the dress’s sculptural element. To recall her fashion dichotomy, I wanted to create a sculptural dress for her that was also comfortable. In the fabrication of this project, I developed a novel way to create a secure yet flexible way to attach the laser cut “tongue” to her body.
